Construction managers lead the complex process of creating elements of the built environment. These skills are qualitative and interpersonal and call on each of us to think creatively about people. Done well, good leadership creates and sustains an environment where team members contribute openly, communicate honestly, and work collectively to realize the best outcomes.
About Andrea S. Rutledge
Joining CMAA in 2017, Andrea S. Rutledge is a seasoned association executive with a passion for promoting the core values of the profession and the vision and mission of CMAA. Prior to joining CMAA, she served as executive director of the National Architectural Accrediting Board, and as a managing director with the American Institute of Architects (AIA). Her career also includes positions at Olivet College in Michigan and the White House.
She is a staunch advocate for educating all #industry #professionals not only in the technical and analytical skills needed to manage both small and large projects and programs but also in developing the leadership skills required to ensure success regardless of scope or complexity.
She has contributed to #DesignIntelligence and been featured in numerous publications including #Engineering News-Record (#ENR) and Architectural Record. In 2014, she was named an Honorary Member of the #AIA.
Rutledge earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado Boulder and an MFA from The Catholic University of America.
She is an avid distance runner and mentors other runners in the Washington, DC area.
